“Despite being just 22, Nathan has gained plenty of experience in the Premier League with Norwich City, showing his quality at the top level on a consistent basis.“He has also performed exceptionally well on the international stage, playing a key role in helping England Under-21s win the Toulon Tournament this summer.“While Nathan has already gained Premier League experience, he has the potential to continue developing and becoming an integral part of the squad for years to come.” It follows on from a failed bid in 2014 after the Canaries were relegated from the Premier League.
The deal for Redmond does not represent any offsetting of a potential departure for Sadio Mane, who has been subject of intense interest from Liverpool.
Instead Redmond is simply someone Saints have long wanted to join their ranks.
As was reported by the Daily Echo two weeks ago, Saints intended to push ahead with the transfer for the 22-year-old despite currently being managerless.
